  • How to Classify calcium carbonate?

Calcium carbonate is mainy type filler used on plastics and rubber

This is all person maybe kown, but How to Classify it maybe you not fully kown

1.Ground calcium carbonate/GCC, it is we usually called calcium carbonate, caco3,it is a powder

material obtained from natural ores by physical grinding a. Its bulk density is generally

    0.8-1.3g/cm3 and whiteness is 89-93%.

    2. Precipitated calcium carbonate/PCC, also called light calcium carbonate,

Light Calcium Carbonate  it is chemical synthesis products, calcination of limestone at high temperature

get calcium oxide and carbon dioxide, calcium oxide reactred with water get calcium hydroxide, then

reacted with carbon dioxide and water get calcium carbonate precipitation, then through dehydration,

and grinding get final productits bulk density is generally 0.5-0.7g/cm3 and the whiteness is 92%-95%.

    3.Nano calcium carbonate/CCR:it is ultra-fine precipitated calcium carbonate,partical size (20-100nm).

    The bulk density about 0.28g/cm3.

    4. Active Calcium Carbonate/Coated calcium carbonate: Active Calcium Carbonate is obtained by surface

modification with organic substances(such as stearic acid, coupling agent). The most difference between

Active Calcium Carbonate and Non-Active Calcium Carbonate is hydrophobicity.

Among them, PCC And GCC are generally only used as fillers, but nano-calciumcarbonate and coated

calcium carbonate are not only used as fillers, but also have reinforcing effect.
