  • Main features of ESBO

    Environmentally friendly and non-toxic

ESBO is internationally recognized as a non-toxic plasticizer that meets the certification standards of the U.S. FDA Food Additives Rule (e.g., 21 CFR 181.27 and 175.300) and Japan's JHPA (PVC Food Hygiene Protocol Association) for food packaging and medical materials.

Compared with traditional phthalate plasticizers (e.g. DOP), ESBO has no risk of endocrine disruption and reduces environmental pollution through biodegradation.

    Excellent Stability and Weathering Resistance

As a plasticizer and stabilizer for PVC, ESBO has high heat resistance (the higher the epoxy value, the stronger the heat resistance) and light stability, which can effectively inhibit the release of hydrogen chloride during the thermal degradation of PVC and prolong the life of the material.

When used synergistically with calcium-zinc (Ca-Zn) stabilizers, it can improve the transparency and weather resistance of PVC products, while reducing the amount of heavy metal stabilizers, in line with the environmental trend.

    Low volatility and migration

ESBO has a high molecular weight (about 1000), volatility is only 1/5 of DOP, and low migration in oily food, which makes it suitable for gaskets and cling film in long-term contact with food.

The lower the iodine price, the better the compatibility with PVC, further reducing the risk of precipitation.

    Physical Property Advantages

Light yellow viscous liquid at room temperature, insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, ketones, etc., with wide processing adaptability.

Gives PVC products good mechanical strength, electrical insulation and oil resistance, suitable for wire and cable, artificial leather and other industrial fields.

    Regulatory Compliance

The European Union regulation (EU 10/2011) sets the Specific Migration Limit (SML) for ESBO in food contact materials at 60 mg/kg, with a lower SML of 30 mg/kg for infant food packaging.

Toxicological studies have shown that its tolerable daily intake (TDI) is 1 mg/kg and that chronic overdose may cause minor effects on organs such as the liver and kidneys in rats, but in practice it is usually well below the safety threshold.

  • Main application areas of ESBO

    Food Packaging Materials

Used in PVC gaskets, glass bottle cap liners and cling film, it can not only plasticize PVC, but also remove the hydrogen chloride generated by thermal degradation to ensure food hygiene and safety.

    Medical products

Replacing traditional plasticizers in PVC products such as medical catheters and blood bags to avoid the toxicity risk of phthalates.

    Industrial and Construction Field

Manufacture of weather-resistant plastic building materials (e.g. wallpaper, floor leather), automobile parts (e.g. sealing strips) and wire and cable sheathing.

    Consumer Products & Toys

As a plasticizer for PVC materials in toys, it meets the stringent requirements for the safety of children's products under the EU REACH and other regulations.

    Other Special Applications

Used in synthetic rubber modification, ink and paint formulations to improve the flexibility and durability of materials.
