  • Process and application of vinyl method PVC

  • Vinyl PVC Process

There are two main steps in the production of vinyl PVC: the polymerization reaction and the post-processing.

    1. Raw material preparation

The main raw materials for vinyl PVC include vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers and other additives. The selection and proportion of these raw materials will have a significant impact on the properties of the final product.

    2. Polymerization reaction

The vinyl method employs direct polymerization, with the following main polymerization methods:

    - Suspension polymerization: Vinyl chloride monomer is mixed with water and initiator to form a suspension, and the polymerization reaction is carried out at a certain temperature and pressure.

    - Emulsion polymerization: Vinyl chloride monomer is emulsified in the aqueous phase by the action of surfactant, and then the polymerization reaction is carried out.

    - Turbid polymerization: a relatively new type of polymerization, combining the advantages of the suspension and emulsion methods.

Different methods of polymerization lead to changes in molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and crystal structure of vinyl PVC, thus affecting the final properties of the product.

    3. Post-treatment

After polymerization, the product needs to be post-treated, including washing, drying and crushing. During post-treatment, unreacted vinyl chloride monomer and other impurities are removed to improve the purity of the product.

  • Product Characteristics of Vinyl PVC

The products of vinyl PVC have unique advantages and characteristics in terms of physicochemical properties, processing performance and environmental friendliness.

    1. Physicochemical properties:

    - Transparency: Vinyl PVC is usually more transparent than PVC produced by traditional methods and is suitable for optical and packaging materials.

    - Corrosion resistance: Vinyl PVC is more resistant to most chemicals and is suitable for corrosive environments.

    - Stability: Vinyl PVC shows good thermal stability at high temperatures due to the addition of suitable stabilizers.

    2. Processability:

    - Easy to process: Vinyl PVC can be processed by extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and other techniques, which is highly adaptable.

    - Good mechanical properties: Its mechanical strength, impact resistance and toughness are good, which can meet the needs of different industries.

    - Versatility: the formula can be adjusted according to specific applications, adding different plasticizers and fillers to produce PVC products of different properties.

    3. Environmental friendliness:

    - Relatively low environmental impact: The production process of vinyl PVC, especially in the application of new technology, can effectively reduce the volatilization of vinyl chloride and reduce environmental pollution.

    - Recyclability: PVC itself has good recycling properties, and the products produced by vinyl method are easier to realize recycling.
